Pure Networks Deepens Focus on Broadband and Internet Service Providers with Networking Platform
Expands Leadership
Team, Adding Peder Ulander to Drive Product Strategy
SEATTLE — March 19, 2008 —
Pure Networks™, a leading provider of networking software and solutions, announced
today the hiring of Peder Ulander as vice president of product strategy. This
newly created leadership position reaffirms Pure Networks' commitment to
providing a comprehensive offering of networking solutions for broadband and Internet
service providers.
"Our current products are gaining significant
traction among service providers and OEMs," said Jeff
Erwin, CEO of Pure Networks. "We are always looking to make
our products better and more useful to our customers. This important role is
responsible for maintaining a deep connection with customers and translating
their requirements into technical solutions that drive results."
Based in Seattle,
Ulander will oversee design and development of the platform, solutions, tools
and applications that help broadband and service providers reduce their support
costs and more effectively deploy new services into the home.
"The growing adoption of the digital lifestyle by
consumers has opened up huge opportunities for broadband service providers,"
said Ulander. "Along with this opportunity, however, comes a whole host of
support issues as service providers are expected to help consumers address the
complexities and incompatibilities of connected devices. Pure Networks is in a
unique position to address consumer issues by delivering technologies to
service providers that enable simple, cost effective deployment and management
of services into the connected home. I am excited to join the Pure Networks
team and look forward to building on the success it has already achieved."
Ulander comes to Pure Networks from Sun
Microsystems where he spent seven years. Most recently, as senior VP of marketing,
he was responsible for marketing strategy and operations for Sun's complete
software portfolio, including all developer and community outreach. He was also
a senior director of marketing at Sun and was responsible for defining the
product and marketing strategies for a number of Sun's Linux and open source initiatives,
including the Java Desktop System, Sun Ray ultra-thin client and the StarOffice
Productivity Suite.
Ulander's leadership experience also includes
driving MontaVista's product and marketing strategies globally, and he has held
senior marketing positions at Cobalt Networks, Symantec Corporation and Apple
Computer. He is recognized as a leader in the Linux and Open Source industry
and has a dynamic reputation and a history of introducing award-winning
products in new and emerging markets. Ulander studied Economics at Santa Clara University.
